Opening April 21, 2023, I’ll be performing in the Jarrott Productions production of Mother of the Maid, by Jane Anderson, directed by David Jarrott. It stars Katherine Schroeder as Isabelle Arc (pictured, right) and Alyssa Hurtado (pictured, left) as “The Maid,” Joan of Arc. I’ll be playing Jacques Arc, The Maid’s father. The author writes, “This is not intended to be a history play.” It is, however, a wonderful story of a mother, her challenging daughter, and their family, as they wend their way through (ultimately historic) difficulties.

Mother of the Maid played on Broadway in 2018, when Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote, “Ms. Anderson’s robustly sentimental play, a take on a saint-in-the-making from a parent’s perspective, provides an old-fashioned showcase for the kind of acting with a capital A that once had Broadway theatergoers queuing around the block for returns.”

I’m a big fan of fellow castmember Katherine Schroeder, having last seen her perform in the Different Stages production of Heartbreak House, by George Bernard Shaw. I’m also a big fan of fellow castmember Beau Paul, who will play Father Gilbert. Beau was also in Heartbreak House and a few years ago I had the pleasure of performing with him in the City Theatre production of Bus Stop, by William Inge.

I’m looking forward to working with Alyssa Hurtado (Joan), Christopher Gonzales (Joan’s brother, Pierre), and Rosalind Faires (Lady of the Court).

I’m also a big fan of the performing and behind-the-scenes work of Will Douglas, Producer, and David R. Jarrott, Director. Other creative team members include: Natalie D. Garcia (Assistant Director), Isa Leigh (Production Manager), Buffy Manners (Costume Designer), Demetri Bellini (Technical Director), Al Grab (Master Carpenter), Rodd Simonsen (Audio Engineer), Craig Brock (Sound Designer), and Michael Kraus (the original Scenic Designer).
